html - Struggling with Mobile First Responsive Design -


i seem struggling "mobile first" design. impression got reading many articles , mobile first (2011) book it's processes of creating mobile site first before desktop version.

it makes sense in what's being discussed , idea.

but, mean in terms of development? style default site "mobile". i.e. no media queries involved in design mobile version, default layout. media queries used progressively enhance user experience screen resolution or width becomes greater. in case media queries used target these devices.

another issue term responsive. understand means well, in mobile first approach, responsive grid isn't going make sense because layout phones @ least, going different tablets , desktop.

i can see use of responsive grid being used tablet desktop, or vice versa, because fluid grid can scale, of content on phones won't scaled, many elements positioned vertical.

also, adding content doesn't appear on phones? done hiding content? , how affect seo? or other tricks used add more content devices bigger device widths? using php determine device width , serving content suitable device?

and finally, loading of scripts , resources. if i'm developing mobile first, how go including resources desktops bandwidth , page size isn't issue when compared mobile devices. case yepnopejs?

i'm struggling head around actual development processes , doing things correct way conform conventions.

i have heard of sorts of programming wizardry transition between scales, seem sound more efficient others. think become more , more norm phones begin out-browse computers , companies need focus more on mobile sites. believe far more difficult process have implement key features mobile site while kind of pre-planning more extensive features used on desktop , tablet sites, kind of trying build pyramid upside down or something. whatever works, say, believe demand , money shifting mobile sites in near future though, can understand mobile first idea. honestly, converting between formats pain , whatever comfortable designer.
