dns - DHCP Server not Authorized -
i have 2 active directory servers performing both authentication , dns. 1 server 2003 , other 2008. understanding there no primary domain server in scenario , replicate 2003 2008 without issue.
i have 3rd virtual 2008 server has been preforming dhcp on 2 years without problem. appearing cannot authorize dhcp (red downward arrow). when attempt authorization, not error. not function , appears not authorized. tried netsh authorization.
i have error in logs of dhcp stating: "the dhcp service failed see directory server authorization"
one change made tried revive old physical dhcp server performing service. changed ip , computer name before networked it. have since turned off, believe when problem began.
what problem? additionally, 1 of ad servers more primary in authorization of dhcp, or of equal authority? thanks
note: have removed outdated entries regarding dhcp dns. also, forest functionality level set windows 2000, though have nothing on our network older xp.
your first domain controller in network "primary" domain controller. primary domain controller keeps 5 fsmo roles of entire active directory forest.
in case, think there might problems dns. of these types of problems caused dns. can try use dcdiag utility test connection , dns configuration both domain controllers.
after fixing dns, might want restart net logon service on both domain controller refresh srv record.
in worst case happens me, had dis-join dhcp server (standalone server) domain, , join it, re-authorize ad.
